Learning Network for Artists in Business: Photographing 2D Artwork
Saturday 6 November 2010, 10.30am – 4.30pm
Fee € 30
Following on from previous one day events, West Cork Arts Centre are facilitating professional development opportunities for artists in business wishing to network with peers and share a learning experience which will benefit their business. This autumn we will be exploring photographing wall-hung artwork.
All artists benefit from understanding how to photograph their work. Good photographs make a huge difference to the impact of portfolios and promotional material, and provide an essential record of past work.
This one-day workshop demonstrates techniques and equipment used for taking high quality photographs and teaches participants how to take competent photographs of their work using modest equipment. The workshop also covers some general principals of digital photography including understanding image size and format and how to record accurate colours.
The workshop combines presentations with a demonstration of set-up and lighting,
includes printed reference material and is presented by Ben Russell.
Participants should bring: digital camera , camera manual (available online, if lost!) , fully charged or spare batteries , notebook, tripod (if available), table-top easel (if available) and small spirit-level (if available)
This part of the programme is about the individual artist and devising appropriate methods to increase their knowledge, awareness and skills.
This may take the form of mentoring, bringing in professionals with specialised crew of knowledge and experience to mentor and work alongside artists of WCAC. We also support artists with less experience to work alongside our more experienced artists in a assisting, or learning role.
Another key element involves sourcing ongoing appropriate and relevant training for artists and supporting artists to attend courses, conferences and seminars nationally and internationally.
