Attuning to Body-Mind As Environment
‘Attuning’ is the result of Mairead’s four-year Arts Practice PhD research into the symbiotic relationship between the body-mind and environment. Series 2 revolves around cultivating an awareness of the body-mind-environment as one living organising intelligence. Through deepening our capacity to fully inhabit our body-mind, we become aware of how our inner sensed and felt experience extends out to influence our perception of and our relationship with our self, others and our surrounding environment.
Mairéad Vaughan (www.shakramdance.com), dance artist, choreographer, researcher and facilitator, graduated from Northern School of Contemporary Dance (UK) with a BA in Performing Arts, The Irish World Academy of Music and Dance, UL, with an MA and an Arts Practice PhD in Contemporary Dance and Choreographic Practice. As artistic director of Shakram Dance Company (1999 – 2014), Mairéad created a body of fifteen original choreographic works, all supported by the Arts Council of Ireland, which toured nationally and internationally. Her work spans live theatre performance, music and dance collaboration, site-specific dance, experimental film, screendance and live performance installation.
