Children and Young People at Uillinn 2019
6 June to 6 July at Uillinn: West Cork Arts Centre

At Uillinn we are dedicated to providing a rich and stimulating learning experience into the Arts, for children and young people. This experience can be a fleeting on day visit or a year-long in depth project, meeting with artists, investigating artwork and making their own. This exhibition of young artists work is a snapshot of this years’ work by children and young people with a variety of artforms explored, from stop motion animation to large scale collaborative drawings from three programmes: Primary School Tours, Art ClubCreative Schools TY with Skibbereen Community School. In each of the programmes the young artists took part in curating their own work, decision making and selecting the pieces they found most successful in expressing their themes.

Precognition is a collaborative project with Transition Years Students in Skibbereen Community School. The project took place created over eight workshops in the classroom in Skibbereen Community School and the studio in Uillinn, the West Cork Arts Centre.
'Drawing from climate change, dystopian fictions and our locality we created a science fiction set in the not so distant future. This vision of the future foresees a time when the people of Skibbereen are forced to relocate to 'Clerks crater', the Moon. Nasa named the crater in honour of the astronomer and writer Agnes Mary Clerke, born in Skibbereen in 1842.'
