A physical and emotional piece that blends different mediums and invites the audience to witness a journey of becoming.

Òwe is a solo work inspired by meditations on Yoruba proverbs, proverbs that acts as an archive of ancestral knowledge, intuitions, and values of Yoruba people. This dance solo purposes to decode a fragmented, personal archive and observe it through the scope of the more objective cultural and historical archives, while using personal and found archival material as concept, visual design, and soundscape, with an energetic blend of traditional and contemporary movements. It is in a sense an emotional resurrection of a past that is both personal and ancestral.

Mufutau subsequently enrolled in a four-year undergraduate program at Salzburg Experimental Academy of Dance, and since graduating in 2016, has worked as a freelancer with various choreographers and companies such as Wim Vandekeybus/Ultima Vez, Irish Modern Dance Theatre, Liz Roche Company, Catherine Young Dance, Emma Martin/United Fall, Pan Pan Theatre, Anton Lackhy, Ricardo Ambrozio, Ian Kaler, Paul Blackman and Christine Gouzelis, and many more, as well as developing his own artistic works for both stage and film.

Mufutau is currently based between Ireland and Brussels, where he still works with Belgian company Wim Vandekeybus/Ultima Vez.
