Haiku Shelter at Uillinn
North Stairwell, 13 to 19 December 2022

This small exhibition of haiku inspired poetry and artworks is by participants of the Haiku Shelter project at Uillinn who have been creating the collection alongside artists Tess Leak and printmaker Mary Callaghan over the past couple of months.

Haiku are short 3-lined poems originating from Japan which often evoke the natural world.

"Writing a haiku can give you a little break from everything that is going on and give you a different perspective." - Participant.

The project was first run in Bantry and Clonakilty in 2021 as part of the Irish Hospice Foundation's Compassionate Culture Network where local communities were invited to creatively explore Loss as unlockdown happened

This project is delivered by Uillinn West Cork Arts Centre in partnership with Cork ETB, with special thanks to Eleanor O’Driscoll for making this happen in memory of her brother Oliver.
