Cloud Study is part dance, part dream, part theatre, part athletics. Two compelling dancers - Mufutau Yusuf, an Irishman, born in Nigeria and Salma Ataya, a Palestinian contemporary dancer who has also danced Dabka - attempt to run 1,000 kilometres in circles and lines through the space, chasing dreams, memories, and home. Cloud Study is about witnessing and feeling rather than understanding.

John Scott makes a welcome return to Uillinn with Cloud Study, following huge New York success at La MaMa Moves Dance Festival. Described by Dance Magazine as “effervescent … highly physical and metaphysical … terrific dancing and wonderous rapport” and the Dance Enthusiast as “bold, innovative … we feel as if we are emerging from a complex and provocative dream” Cloud Study uses the metaphor of clouds as a traveling, dreamy mass which float above everything, witnessing, dissolving and carrying storms.

“effervescent … highly physical and metaphysical … terrific dancing and wonderous rapport”
Wendy Perron/Dance Magazine, New York

“ bold, innovative ….. Contrasting textures swirl: actions can float with airy lightness, whip and whirl with abandon, or carry the weight of a cloud laden with rain..….we feel as if we are emerging from a complex and provocative dream”

Theo Boguszewski The Dance Enthusiast, New York

“Throughout, the chemistry between Yusuf and Ataya is exquisite, as is their ownership of the space, be they combative or cohering around complementary or conflicting patterns …. beautiful and powerful sequences stepped in vitality and immediacy…. “Cloud Study” brings the thunder, delivering a downpour full of powerful and mesmerising moments"
Chris O'Rourke, The Arts Review
